There are seven churches in the Parish of the Icknield Way Villages - each very different, each with its own unique history, and each building a source of wonder and great spirituality.

All of our churches  are part of communities that pre-date the Domesday Book of 1087, in settlements that must have been occupied almost continuously from pre-historic times, with the ancient Icknield Way that passes through the Parish a source of communications, supplies and wealth. Defensive ditches confirm that the area – the highest point in Essex and Cambridgeshire – was frequently used as a stronghold.
